INGLEWOOD, Calif., June 26 (Our Los Angeles) — The United States men’s national team lost to Türkiye 3-2 on Friday in Los Angeles, but the defeat did not change its tournament path: the Americans had already clinched first place in Group D and will face Bosnia and Herzegovina in the round of 32 on July 1.

Auston Trusty and Sebastian Berhalter scored for the U.S., which led at one point before Türkiye answered with goals from Arda Güler and Barış Alper Yılmaz. Kaan Ayhan then scored the winner in stoppage time.

The match was played at SoFi Stadium before an announced crowd of 70,492.

The U.S. entered the game already assured of advancing after its first two group-stage wins, and the result leaves it set for a knockout-round match against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Santa Clara, California.
