NEW YORK, June 9 (DC Times Online) — President Donald Trump drew a mixed reaction at Madison Square Garden when he was shown on the arena video board during the national anthem before Game 3 of the NBA Finals, Fox News reported.
The game was between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs in New York City on June 8. A Getty Images photo by Samuel Corum placed Trump at the start of the game.
Fox News reported that some fans cheered when Trump appeared on the big screen, but boos were louder as he saluted from a suite.
Trump was shown with his granddaughter Kai Trump on his right and Knicks owner James Dolan on his left, according to Fox News.
The reaction was different from the one Trump received earlier this year at the College Football Playoff national championship game at Hard Rock Stadium, Fox News reported. At that game, the crowd cheered when Trump was shown on the stadium video board during the national anthem.
Fox News reported that after the in-arena shot of Trump ended at Madison Square Garden, the video board returned to the ceremony on the court, where NYPD officers were holding flags.
The supplied materials did not include an NBA box score, final score, series standings or postgame comments from the Knicks, Spurs or league.
