WASHINGTON, July 12 (DC Times Online) — James Carville sharply criticized progressive Democrats in a Friday Politicon video, warning that internal party battles could push Democrats toward another defeat like the one that helped elect Donald Trump in 2016.

The longtime Democratic strategist said some activists were weakening the party by attacking Democrats instead of building a broader coalition. “These people are so f—ing stupid I don’t know what to say about it,” Carville said, adding, “You are part of the problem because you’re a f—ing idiot!”

Carville said Democrats should not “fall for the allure of false prophets” and argued, “It’s not both parties’ faults!” He said the problem was ideological, not shared evenly between Democrats and Republicans.

He also pointed to recent primary wins by insurgent Democrats as part of what he sees as a damaging trend, and singled out Michigan candidate Abdul El-Sayed, saying the group was “running against both parties.”
